Fireweed Post Danglers - Sapphire

When I received these pink sapphires I was immediately reminded of fireweed and knew I had to create some work that would celebrate this beautiful plant. These post style danglers are made with recycled sterling silver and feature a sturdy, double-layered hand-sawn fireweed, hand-forged fringe, and the most beautiful, vibrant pink sapphires. These come with heavy duty ear nuts to keep the posts hanging perfectly. They're super lightweight and comfortable and have a ton of movement. Oxidized satin finish for an old world feel.

Fireweed is one of my all time favourite wildflowers. This plant has such beautiful wisdom about how to live. After fire + forest harvesting, it quickly spreads across the disturbed land; facilitating ecological succession + reforestation with its presence by making the soil + forest floor more hospitable.

In addition to healing the land, fireweed has many medicinal properties - it’s anti-inflammatory + anti-fungal, and it tastes lovely as a tea or eaten when the plants are young.

It’s one of the most ubiquitous + most beautiful plants of the northern hemisphere, lighting up vast swaths of this land with its brilliant magenta blooms.

All handcrafted using traditional silversmithing techniques, with my own two hands and a lot of heart and soul. Each North Star Silver order comes lovingly packaged and ready for gift-giving. I use GOTS-certified organic cotton jewelry bags and/or 100% post consumer recycled kraft jewelry boxes with natural cotton filling.
