Jörmungandr Necklace - 14k Gold & Arkansas Quartz - Pre-Order
A fresh take on an all time fave - this necklace features an ourobouros hand-forged in recycled 14 karat gold and wrapped around an AAA grade crystal quartz of exceptional cut & clarity. This stone was ethically mined in Arkansas and measures approx. 6mm in diameter. Framed by a ring of silver and hand-textured around the border. Oxidized satin finish for an old world feel. Hangs from a sterling silver chain that is adjustable to be worn at 16, 18, or 20 inches.

Jörmungandr is an ourobouros from the Norse mythology of my ancestors. The child of Loki & the giantess Angrboða, Jörmungandr is said to be so large that he can encircle the Earth, holding his tail in his mouth as he does so.
As the prophecy goes: during Ragnarok, the cataclysmic battle of the end times, Jörmungandr emerges from the depths of the oceans; causing massive tsunamis & storms that ravage the Earth. He and Thor battle it out, with Jörmungandr ultimately dealing a vicious bite to Thor that proves to be his undoing. As always, new beginnings are disguised as painful ends, and Thor’s son, Vidar, avenges his father, crushing Jörmungandr with his boot & thereby catalyzing the rebirth of the world.
When we find the courage to face the darkness that dwells unseen, we step into our power. Jörmungandr symbolizes this hidden power, & teaches us to face the unknown with a brave heart, stalwart in the knowledge that transformation is inevitable, and that the wheel of life moves by the perpetual rhythm of destruction & creation.
Reconnecting with my ancestry through my work has been a potent practice for me, I hope you can feel the strength and essence this piece holds.
